bike prep & portrait

Here is a small series of portraits during the French Supermoto Championship race in l’Alpe d’Huez on August 9-10, 2014. Christophe Vellutini agreed to be in the spotlight as he was getting ready for the Challenger race in the late afternoon.

In supermoto, the paddock is a really friendly, lively place, buzzing with activity. For me, this side of racing is as interesting and important as the races themselves.

For a lot of riders who don’t benefit from a big infrastructure, you have to manage everything on your own. Preparing the bike for practice and races requires a lot of talent and resourcefulness, with composure, precision, concentration – the aim is to have the most reliable and high-performance machine in time for the races. Here’s one of those little special moments in life: a workshop and preparation session in 7 shots.
