A weekend at the heart of the Superbiker
From October 10 to 12, 2025, the Circuit Jules Tacheny in Mettet pulsed to the rhythm of the Superbiker – the world’s largest Supermoto event. Nearly 450 riders from every background, from passionate amateurs to elite champions, battled all weekend long in an atmosphere where competition meets celebration. Concerts, buzzing paddocks, and a joyful crowd: for three days, Mettet becomes the world capital of Supermoto.
Amid this excitement, Marc‑Reiner Schmidt, five‑time S1GP World Champion, returned to a track he knows better than anyone. Having already claimed seven Superbiker victories, he has built a defining part of his legend here. In 2025, with a fifth world title already secured, he approached this season finale without restraint – with the same determination that marked his early years.
This photo series takes you inside his weekend: the physical preparation, the moments of focus before each start, the tension on the grid, the dust of battle, and the emotion of victory. Three days of total intensity at the heart of an extraordinary event, capturing the look and gestures of a champion who doesn’t know how to do things halfway.
Friday — Behind the Scenes
Preparation, setup, and the first laps
The track awakens to the rhythm of engines – the Superbiker begins to beat. In the paddock, mechanics fine‑tune the machines. For Marc‑Reiner Schmidt, it’s time to center himself: physical training sessions, warm‑ups, first laps on the Mettet track. These photos capture the precision and calm of a champion before the storm. Every movement counts, every detail sets up victory. The atmosphere is electric, yet focus remains absolute.
Saturday — Double Victory
Two races, two demonstrations
Saturday lived up to every expectation. Physio, focus, final adjustments – the champion’s ritual before performance. Then Marc Schmidt launches, determined, into the first two S1GP motos. Two perfect starts, two masterful wins that reminded everyone why he is a five‑time world champion. From warm‑up to starting grid, from gate drop to finish line, these photos tell the story of a rider at the peak of his art. Concentration: total. Execution: flawless.
Sunday — The Apotheosis
The crowning of a champion
On Sunday, Mettet is in full excitement: more than 20,000 spectators packed around the circuit, the atmosphere of a festival, and the tension of a world‑final showdown.
Facing an outstanding Lukas Höllbacher and a relentless Steve Bonnal, Marc Schmidt had to dig deep. Marc and his Austrian rival rode wheel‑to‑wheel for most of the Superbiker race, setting a blistering pace.
Marc finally prevailed, taking victory in the last S1GP moto to seal his fifth world crown – before triumphing again in the Superbiker, his eighth title at Mettet. These images capture the intensity, the rivalry, and the grandeur of a champion at the heart of battle.
Three days of intensity, hundreds of riders, thousands of eyes, and at the end of the weekend – a champion at the very top of his craft. At Mettet, the Superbiker is not only raced – it’s shared, felt, and celebrated. Through these images I wanted to tell that balance between the wild energy of the spectacle and the discipline of the champion.
Marc‑Reiner Schmidt leaves with two new trophies – but above all, another memory added to an already legendary story.
