The Pôle Mécanique race track in Alès (Gard, southern France) hosted Round 2 of the 2026 Coupes de France Promosport on 11 and 12 April, under shifting weather: bright sunshine on Saturday, then overcast skies and rain on Sunday afternoon.
I discovered this track for the occasion, as Promosport was returning to Alès after several years away. Among my favourite shots from the weekend are a few portraits taken in the pit lane: focused faces, intent gazes, filtered light falling on leathers and helmets. On track, a few panning shots. And then the pre-grid, a suspended moment I often find photogenic: the quiet tension, the final adjustments before lights out.
